FOUNDING PRESIDENT
A prolific cricketer and politician, Late Shri Chetan Chauhan has served as Chairperson of the BVCI since its inception; Late Mr. Chetan Chauhan debuted for Team India in 1969 as a Right-handed batsman and Right arm off-spin bowler. In over forty test matches played for India, Chetan Chauhan regularly opened alongside Mr. Sunil Gavaskar. He has also played for Delhi and Maharashtra in Ranji Trophy and was crucial in forming the Board of Control for Veterans Cricket in India. In a record stint of 10 years, the Late Mr. Chauhan scored over 11 centuries alongside Mr. Sunil Gavaskar and is one of the only cricketers apart from Shane Warne and Niroshan Dickwella to have 2000+ runs without a century in test cricket.
After his retirement, Shri Chetan Chauhan joined the Bhartiya Janta Party and was a member of Lok Sabha from Amroha in 1991 and 1998. He served as a state minister under Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath in 2017.
In July 2020, Mr. Chetan Chauhan sadly passed away due to multiple organ failure and cardiac arrest on August 16, 2020. The Board of Control for Veterans Cricket in India will always be indebted to our founder and longest-serving Chairperson for his contributions to the board.
